Name: Diketso Makhutle
Designation: Retail Marketing Manager
Company: Intel Corporation South Africa
What do you do every day? I manage the retail account and two vendor accounts. I am a part of the consumer team, which means that I need to ensure our marketing strategy is supported with a sales element. I need to ensure that the consumer electronics stores know and understand the technology trends and that they have access to the latest and greatest technology that Intel makes possible. I operate as the lead point of contact for any and all customer matters.
One of my key responsibilities is to build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships with key customer stakeholders and executive sponsors. I ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs and objectives and I clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders. I forecast and track key account metrics, identify and grow opportunities within the territory and collaborate with sales teams to ensure growth attainment. I also assist with high severity requests or issue escalations as needed.
How did you get into the tech space? I started as an intern at Intel, and fell in love with technology from then.
What was the best advice anyone ever gave you? People buy from people, so make sure you build a strong network.
What advice would you given someone wanting to get into the tech sector? Wake up every morning with a purpose and a clearly defined goal for each and every day.
What motivates you to get out of bed everyday? The fact that every morning I get the opportunity to take a step forward towards realising my dream.
Who do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be the CTO at a multi-national organisation.
